If you DO need a permit, the inspector will want to see:
• The sheathing, if the roof is brand new or you are having a tear-off of the old roofing.
• The felt or material you’ll be using under the shingles. Inspectors like to see the types of fasteners used and the overlap.
• The final roof. They like to see how the shingles meet valleys, overlap and ridges.
Inspectors must sign off on the permit before Final Inspection.
