  • Hitch Options for Avant yet?

At least two of us have Stealth hitches installed so they should have a product available. I would call them directly. They are a small shop but very responsive.

Some cutting underneath the bumper. You cannot see it unless you are on the ground and it looks pretty clean to me.

Yes, they cut that rectangle out of bumper (plastic). I think that was the only cutting.

I dont think that area was ever fully weather sealed and Im in Atlanta so dont have to worry as much about snow/ice/etc. They do a similar cut for many if not all of their products and work directly with a few dealerships. I didnt ask for the piece back and I havent worried too much about it.

Did they make any adjustments to the receiver? I heard that the initial version was pretty low to the ground.

Interestingly my Xpel rear bumper kit already has a cut-out in that area. It was probably made for the swiveling hitch that can be ordered with European spec cars.

You know. I was positive they cut that out but does someone want to go look under their bumper? You are correct that the same area would need to be accessible for the Euro hitch.

There is wiring available but what you see capped off is the locking mechanism. Once you insert the receiver or ball mount you lock/unlock it with a key.

Hitch itself is 6000/600 but on the car it is 3000/300 — second # being tongue weight.

I had mine installed the week after the first guy (user 007DT I think) and they had everything pre-fabricated based on his. I waited in their conference room while they did the install.

The way it works is there is a 2 receiver used for bike racks, etc. and a separate ball mount that connects directly to hitch block. I.e., you do not use the receiver for towing like a traditional receiver.

The top of the receiver, when attached, is basically flush with bottom of the bumper — so no real way to raise that. So if anything I imagine they were talking about raising the height of the ball mount.

The car sits so low already that I am not planning on towing anything with it. I am only going to use it for my bike rack.
