Most people know Brill Alderige as the wife of former football player and current Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garett, but Brill is just as intelligent as she is attractive and able to hold her own just fine.
The Couple Met at Princeton
Most people don’t think of football players (or their wives) at an Ivy League college, but Brill and Jason met during geology class lab on the Princeton campus when they were both freshmen.
One Ivy League Wasn’t Enough for Brill
While Jason went on to play football, Brill went on to earn a law degree from the highly esteemed Harvard University. She is now a lawyer and community advocate.
She Once Worked with First Lady Laura Bush
As her educational history might denote, Brill strongly believes in education and advocates for children on a regular basis. Her work led her to host the Dallas and Fort Worth Celebration of Reading event in 2018 alongside Laura Bush.
She Also Helps Promote Young Athletes
While Brill clearly favors education, she also helps young athletes find their footing in the sports world along with her husband. The couple started the Jason Garett Starfish Charities which helps new athletes in high school and college prepare themselves for athletic scholarships.
It Took Ten Years for Brill to Marry Jason
However, while it was obvious that Brill and Jason liked each other, they both put education before their relationship and wanted to wait until both had solid careers before discussing marriage. It took nearly a decade for the two to finally marry in 1994, and when they did they chose to have a very intimate ceremony with only a few friends and family.
They Have Family Traditions Without Children
After 25 years of marriage, it doesn’t look like children are in their future, however, they have plenty of family traditions with their beloved nephews and nieces. For instance, the football family celebrates Thanksgiving one week before the actual event to account for football games. Even though Jason is now retired, they continue the family tradition.
