How to find the window fuse on Mercedes Class A
Nowadays, we find electric windows in most recent vehicles, and on Mercedes A-Class models of recent years. This has a great advantage, allowing us to open and close the windows quickly to circulate the air. This also remains a major factor regarding security, as we have the option to close the windows of our Mercedes Class A just in case of danger. But here’s the rub, with so many electric windows, it can happen mechanical breakdowns. It may take a bit of time but it is quite possible to do it yourself, if you have a little patience. In this article we want to help you to find the fuses that power the windows of your Mercedes A-Class allowing you to change them. We will devote a paragraph intended for their localization and their manipulation, then to finish a second paragraph to other possible failures on your Mercedes Classe A if it did not come from the electric window fuses.
Locating the window fuses of my Mercedes A-Class
First of all, here is an important reminder about fuses and how they work. The value of the fuse is related to the ability of the wires to withstand the current passing through, it will blow and thus shut off the current so that the components of your Mercedes A-Class do not burn. This means that if you want to put a fuse on your Mercedes Classe A with greater resistance because the one in place blows each time after being installed, by increasing the resistance of the fuse, we run the risk that it is unnecessary and that so it is the electronic components of your Mercedes A-Class which burn out instead.
We advise you to check the manual of your Mercedes A-Class carefully to check the value of the current consumption necessary for the operation of your electric windows.
The window regulator fuses of your Mercedes Classe A (and all fuses as a rule) work in the following way, the larger the wire, the lower its resistance, it will pass more current (ampere).
The resistance of a fuse is thus determined by its diameter, its length, its component (copper) and its insulation capacity. It will thus burn if the heat generated by the current is too great which will block the current.
On certain models of Mercedes Class A, compared to the year, logically if you still have manually closed windows you therefore do not have fuses.
Otherwise, the manual for your Mercedes A-Class will be able to help you find the precise position of the window regulator fuses, in this manual you will find pages specially dedicated to the positions of the fuses, with the corresponding titles. Identify those which correspond to the closing of the windows of your Mercedes A-Class.
There are numbering of the window closing fuses to make it easier for you to sort by reference to the numbered list in the manual. This will allow you to know which fuse protects which circuit.
If ever they are not numbered, you can still take each fuse of your Mercedes A-Class individually and with the help of a multimeter, make sure that a current passes through the fuse. The multimeter works by a very simple operation, with a plus terminal and a minus terminal, it makes a current flow through a body. If you place the plus terminal on one side of the car radio fuse and the minus terminal on the other side, you will therefore have the opportunity to monitor whether the current is flowing. If nothing goes through, then the fuse of the electric windows in your Mercedes Classe A is out of order.
If you do not have user manual, several options are available to you to find the fuses of the electric windows on your Mercedes Class A. To the left of the steering wheel you will find a small hatch a little lower, which you can remove by hand. Otherwise, they are located under the radio part of your Mercedes A-Class in the center of the passenger compartment. Last possibility, they are located under the glove box, which you can reach by hand by removing a protective plastic cover.
To make it easier for you, we have also designed an article for fuses and their handling on a Mercedes A-Class, this can surely help you find the electric window fuse:

Other potential breakdowns of the electric windows of your Mercedes Classe A
If, despite everything, the fault was not the result of the window regulator fuses of your Mercedes A-Class, here are the other possible faults. First you need to check the control panel where the opening buttons are located. They are usually located to your left or in the middle of the seats of your Mercedes A-Class.
Remove it from its base in order to have access to the cables placed underneath. If they are not unplugged, and nothing seems strange, remove the plastic part that protects the electrical circuit, and see if nothing is unsoldered. You can perform the same operation on the door of your Mercedes Classe A, but it will require more patience and thoroughness, be patient.
From there you could have access to the motor which activates the opening of your windows, and thus see what it looks like, if cables are cut.
Important note: if when you press the window button on your Mercedes A-Class, that you discern the sound of actuation, but that nothing happens, then this shows that the motor is working, that therefore the fuses are in place, but that it is the cables supposed to open the window which are cut. You will then have to dismantle your door in order to reach them on your Mercedes A-Class and thus change them.
If, however, you hear a click of the engine cranking, but nothing more happens, and tapping on the door the window lowers / raises, then it’s your engine who has a problem.
