White Plastic Lock Collar

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise
This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second generation «D40 Series» (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) Nissan Frontier pickup truck in changing a burnt out dual filament combination low & high beam headlight bulb, front turn signal or front side marker light bulb.

Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Navara, Versa, Maxima, Juke, Rogue, Altima, Xterra, Pathfinder, Murano, Cube, Armada, Leaf, Quest, Sentra, Teana, 370Z, GT-R, Titan, G25, G37, M35, QX56, QX60 and M37 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The replacement bulb part numbers are as follows: Low / High Beam # 9007, Front Turn Signal # 7444NA and Side Marker # 194.

No tools are needed to access and replace the light bulbs on the driver side. To change the bulbs on the passenger side, you may have to remove the 12V battery (click for directions).

Remove Old Light Bulb

Press Release Tab

Disconnect Power Plug
The first two steps are to open the hood and then move to the side of the truck with the burnt out headlight bulb.

Reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the round white plastic locking collar 1/4 turn counterclockwise to release the old bulb.

Pull the old low/high headlight bulb straight out of the housing.

Press down the release tab on the black plastic electrical connector before pulling it straight off the base of the old headlight bulb.

Sylvania HB5 9007

Empty Bulb Socket
The OEM low / high beam headlight bulb is a Sylvania HB5 9007.

Lock Ring On New Bulb

Push On Power Plug

1/4 Turn Clockwise — Lock
Slide the white plastic lock ring over the new 9007 light bulb.

Push the power plug straight on to the base of the new headlight bulb until it clicks securely in to place.

Insert the new headlight bulb in to the housing and rotate the white plastic collar 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Front Side Marker Light

Side Marker Bulb Socket
The front side marker (parking) light is located at the outer edge of the headlight assembly.

Rotate the small grey and black plastic socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it from the housing.

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise

Pull Out Old Light Bulb

Old # 194 Bulb
Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new # 194 bulb.

If you would like to have brighter side marker lights, install a 194 LED bulb.

Push In New # 194 Bulb

1/4 Turn Clockwise — Lock

Turn Signal — Inner Corner
Re-insert the side marker bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

The front turn signal bulb socket is located at the bottom inner corner of the headlight housing.

Turn Signal Bulb Socket

1/4 Turn Counterclockwise

Pull Out Old Bulb
Rotate the grey plastic turn signal bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull it straight out of the housing.

Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new amber colored number 7444NA bulb.

Push In New # 7444NA

Empty Bulb Housing

1/4 Turn Clockwise — Lock
Re-insert the socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

Test New Headlight Bulbs

Testing High Beam Light

Passenger Side 12V Battery
Test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams.

To access and change the light bulbs on the passenger side of the truck, you might need to remove the 12V battery. Click on the preceding link for those directions.
