Front shock absorbers & Peugeot parts

So I am looking into replacing my front shock absorbers and the strut mountings & bearings as I have a knocking noise when going over certain road conditions which is driving me crazy.

I have found a video on YouTube which explains the process step by step (looks fairly simple) How to correctly fit front shock absorbers on Citroen C4 and Peugeot 3008

I have phoned Peugeot this morning for a price on the parts and they want £188.36 for x2 shocks and £92.36 for the mountings. Is this the normal price, can I get genuine peugeot parts cheaper else where then my local Robins & day?
The independent Peugeot garage that I went to have said not to fit oem Peugeot shocks and only use the genuine parts.
Has anyone had any experience which changing the front shocks? Used genuine or oem?

Thanks in advance

I have the same problem the top bearing on my 5008 from year 2012. So while I change the bearings I will replace shock and spring coils as well.

I can see that AUTODOC have multiple brands. So I think I will go with KYB.

Should be easy to do, as long you have a spring compressor.

How would I go about finding the right peugeot part numbers so I can make sure I purchase the correct oem parts?

So I am still yet to do this Job (can never get the time) I originally planned to remove the problem shock on the left just to see if it was the shock and not the strut mounting. Then I thought hold on if I remove the shock and mounting and its apparent the mounting is u/s I might not be able to get it back together correctly so I ordered a strut mount from Autodoc which cost me around £24 Inc delivery. (around £40 in the UK)
Since this I’ve managed to get hold of a mechanic who will fit a new Peugeot shock for £140 which I think is a pretty reasonable price consider the shock is £90 odd from Peugeot. So the next dilemma I have is should I replace both Shocks at the same time or just the one causing the issue? It’s seems everywhere advises on fitting as a pair at the same time.

Incidentally when I bought the car from a Peugeot dealers (not located by me) my father seems to recall seeing paperwork for a replacement shock which was fitted during warranty. (not the side that is now an issue) but looking through my paperwork I can’t seem to find it. Should Peugeot have replaced both Shocks at the same time and not just the one? (as Peugeot themselves advise) If this is the case how would I find out that the work was actually done and how would I go about complaining and who to? Would there be any point in even doing so?
