Barbara Corcoran was born March 10, 1949 in Edgewater, New Jersey. She is the second of 10 children in a large Irish-Catholic family, which led to her attending a small Catholic elementary school. After high school, Barbara attended St. Thomas Aquinas College where she received a Bachelor’s degree in education in 1971.
Barbara would go on to teach school for a year after her graduation, but it wasn’t long before she wanted to be her own boss in the real estate world. In the beginning of the 1980s, The Corcoran Group that would later sell for $66 million was founded.
